CAREHOLDERS
“Wonderful people, wonderful purpose. Such an important enterprise for a resilient and healthy future.""
— Mara B, Careholder
The Food Connect Shed is owned by 520 passionate, good humans we call ‘Careholders.’
They quite literally make this place what it is - buying the shares that helped us raise more than $2 million to buy the joint in 2018 and create Queensland’s first community-owned regional food hub.
By sharing ownership among our community, we’ve created a secure and affordable home for Food Connect and multiple small food businesses and social enterprises, stability for the people they support, and somewhere for everyone to belong - no one can sell the warehouse out from under us.
Our Careholders come from across the country and all walks of life, each with a different reason for investing (wanting to help future-proof Food Connect and the farmers it supports, a strong belief in community-owned infrastructure, a desire to see an ethical foodie paradise down the road). But they share a vision of a better world, and the drive to create a fairer future for all of us - getting a few perks along the way.
Benefits of being a careholder include:
Being a custodian of a community owned building
A share of any profits
Invitations to exclusive events
Discounted venue hire
Discounts at our retail shop (when it kicks off)
Pride in the knowledge you’re doing good for your community
Becoming a careholder
All shares in the Shed are currently committed, but if you’re interested in buying in when another round opens, or taking them off the hands of a Careholder who’d like to divest, make sure you’re on our mailing list - find the form below.

“This is just the kind of initiative to help renew communities and their food production. May it blossom and replicate all over the country. ”

“This pledge is a Christmas Present for our daughter - she lives in Brisbane and we live on the Sunshine Coast, what a great gift to give her as she believes like us that it takes everyone at the table to make this world a great place to live in. Congrats on giving our family the opportunity to be involved in sustainability, human compassion, and a great gift of giving with human survival. We are excited for what people can build together.”
— Robbie M
“Food is life. And healthy, organic, ethical food should be accessible to all. Thanks Food Connect for making it so.”
