NURTURING SMALL BUSINESSES AND BIG IDEAS

A HIRE KITCHEN WITH HEART

“I bought and reinvented my business from the previous owner who already was at the Shed... I continue to stay at the Shed because I adore the individuals who make up the community, and the ethos of sharing and collaboration, ethical food and small-scale production.”

- Kim, long term tenant

Affordable, community-driven kitchen hire with no lock-in commitments.

About you

You’re looking for a commercial kitchen to rent for your growing food venture or new idea. One that gives you access to not just the equipment and mandatory council checks, but somewhere that shares your values and is dripping in community vibes. Somewhere flexible for your needs and supportive of your dreams - whether that’s a profitable hobby or industry disruption.

About us

We’re all that ^ , and a bag of chips (are people still saying that?).

Our council approved commercial kitchen is decked out with multiple workstations, professional-grade gear, specialist equipment, loads of storage space and more. But more importantly, it’s backed by our commitment to being a flexible, supportive place for emerging food entrepreneurs to experiment, collaborate and grow - at a fraction of the cost of renting a kitchen full time or getting your own home council compliant.

The space:

  • Multiple work stations

  • Professional grade facilities

  • Specialised equipment

  • Shared cold storage, freezer and dry storage areas

  • Shared loading docks for receiving and distribution

  • Attached event space for workshops and other events

  • Totally solar powered (but don’t worry, we have mains power too! Supplied by energy social enterprise Enova)

The perks:

  • Affordable rates and no lock-in commitments!

  • Being part of a collaborative, supportive, knowledge-sharing collective of food makers

  • Marketing and promotion through our social media, newsletters, media, events and other fun stuff!

  • Feeling good knowing that you’re in a space that advocates for and practises environmental sustainability, champions growers and small businesses, and aligns with your business values.

NOTE: We’re in the process of implementing a new online booking system so you can see all our spaces and book them directly, paying with credit card. Until that is ready to go, for a single, multiple, or repeating bookings, please email bookings@foodconnectshed.com.au for enquiries, or see the form below.

Our community

As a community-owned food hub, our support circle extends far beyond these walls - when you work here, you’ve got a vast network of people and organisations who want to see you succeed.

But to bring it in a bit, you’ll be sharing the kitchens with a tight-knit crew of passionate foodies who share a love for backing small business, trying new things, sharing their knowledge and occasionally teaming up for exciting things like events and innovative joint products.

Our ethos

The Food Connect Shed, along with the Food Connect Foundation and original trailblazers Food Connect, was built on a commitment to creating a fairer food future for everyone. We’re here to secure a future and stable market for farmers in Brisbane’s food bowl, support agroecology, help the community get better connected to where their food comes from, and help ethical small businesses like yours flourish. And crucially, create a space where everyone is welcome.

Environmental and social responsibility are at our core. We welcome businesses at all stages of these journeys, and are here to share knowledge, help you grow in these areas and create impact.
